M+R: Sparks of Hope DLCs

As a Game UX designer, I worked on all three DLCs for Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, with a particular focus on Tower of Doooom (DLC1) and Rayman in the Phantom Show (DLC3). Each DLC presented unique challenges. In Tower of Doooom, a roguelike tactical adventure, players ascend a tower, battling their way through different portals. My task was to communicate a clear sense of progression while effectively conveying the challenges and rewards for each portal. I worked on the portal design, the overall flow, and various gameplay modes.

In Rayman in the Phantom Show, we introduced new traversal mechanics, like Rayman’s propeller hair, which required clear signage and feedback for its duration. Additionally, we had to redesign the action console to accommodate Rayman’s unique abilities while maintaining consistency with the main game. I worked on the redesign and prototyping of the action console, collaborating closely with the UR team for rapid A/B testing under tight deadlines. I'm proud that the final design was well-received, with no friction reported by players or reviewers!
